1920S
Jack Roe has been working in the cinema industry since at least 1913, and in the 1920s starts his own cinema servicing and supply company in London’s West End, off Wardour Street, known as ‘Film Row’.
1950s
Global shortages of raw materials led Jack Roe into restoring huge amounts of film equipment, including restoring spools that were so ‘true’ when they span that many cinemas preferred them to new ones.
1980S
Jack Roe starts installing computer hardware, and writing software alongside the cinema supplies business. A decade later, in the 1990s, the 2 sides of the business came together, and Tapos ticketing systems were first launched.
2020S
Tapos becomes a separate subsidiary of Jack Roe company to help satisfy the rapid growth in demand for Tapos, and so that Jack Roe could continue to support the needs of the now niche 16mm and 35mm film industry.

With 95 years in the film industry, we have seen everything from the introduction of colour, sound, digital sound and competition from Tv and VHS to Laser Disk and Blu-Ray. We have helped to shape the cinema industry through all of this, and we are now help cinemas to compete against streaming and radically different forms of entertainment such as VR and gaming.
